Microsoft is facing new accusations of hacking into Xbox 360 consoles, as the company says it will investigate an “unknown” breach of some of its network.
The company announced Thursday that it is looking into an “unidentified, possibly criminal, intrusion” on its network and is “reviewing all possible scenarios.”
The company didn’t say what the breach might have been or why it was being investigated.
It is the latest Microsoft security breach, in which hackers stole the personal information of millions of Xbox 360 users.
It also raised the possibility that it could have been linked to other hacks of Xbox consoles.
The Xbox 360 network is connected to PCs, Macs, and tablets via a wired connection that can be compromised through a denial-of-service attack, a hacker said in a video posted on YouTube.
Microsoft said Thursday that the Xbox 360 has been hacked twice in the past few months.
It said in its statement that the second attack, in October, was “an attempt to steal the Xbox One’s personal data,” but said that it has found no evidence that anyone had accessed the network.
